Description
This course provides experienced site safety officers with advanced knowledge about clandestine drug laboratories. It will enhance their ability to safely supervise the dismantling of various types of clandestine laboratories.
Format and delivery

- theoretical portions are offered in class. Practical exercises take place in simulated clandestine laboratories
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, participants will:
- Understand the site safety officer's authority on scene
- Be able to evaluate risks and hazards, including identifying potential injuries
- Understand how to eliminate, mitigate and/or manage risks and hazards
- Understand air management or respiratory protection systems and manage any challenges
- Be able to identify the logistical needs of the team, including external stakeholders who provide a supporting role
Eligibility and mandatory requirements

This course is offered to police officers who:
- are trained clandestine investigators
- have maintained their annual re-certification the past three calendar years
- Registrants must send evidence of their re-certifications with the course registration

Registrants must have completed the basic clandestine laboratory course at one of the following:
- the Canadian Police College
- the Ontario Police College
- anyone who has not previously been trained at the CPC or OPC clandestine laboratory course but wishes to attend the SSSC may submit a special request for consideration. This request will be reviewed by the Lead Instructor and the officer in charge of Advanced and Specialized Policing
- Provide the year and location of training on your registration form
Assessment
- To successfully complete this course, the candidate must participate and complete all required written and practical assignments

The instructor will evaluate participants using various methods, including:
- a written exam
- tactical/field exercises at multiple types of laboratories
- The instructor may conduct re-tests or re-evaluations at their discretion
